SOLVED: CiviCRM Mail & Cronjob...Help needed
March 23, 2013, 11:50:32 am
Hello together,

i have a problem using CiviMail.

Everything is installed an working well but now:

I want to send Mass-Mails to different Groups but it dont work.
The setting for mail (sendmail/SMTP/PHP) are correct.

So, i think i have a problem with the cron job.

I google and try now for 2 Weeks, but nothing did fix my problem.
Can someone give me a tutorial to set up my cronjob?

does the scheduled job page indicate the mail processing job was triggered recently?
what do the logs indicate for that job?

Heres the Log:

Parameters parsed (and passed to API method):
a:1:{s:7:"version";i:3;}

Full message:
Finished execution of Send Scheduled Mailings with result: Erfolg (a:0:{})

It says, that the Mail were sent....but actually no mail was sent.

are you not receiving test emails?
or are you drawing that conclusion based on the mailing report?

the api for that job is pretty good about returning an error. if it's returning success, it's a good indication the emails are getting sent.

Hi!

I dont receive testmailing (step 4 on civi mailing) and i dont receive mails that i want to send to a group.

But i receive that testmails on the civicrm settings (Outgoing Emails). The test for sendmail/PHP/SMTP are correct and i receive that everything is okay.

I think the Problem is on the cronjob. The Job is permanently active. But I think its wrong configuered. So i asked in my first Post for a step-by-step manual for joomla...maybe i forgot some parameters or something.

can you check your mail logs and see what they say.

It might be possible that the smtp server is rejecting the mail sent via civimail due to the verp / other constraints

Re: CiviCRM Mail & Cronjob...Help needed

Now I startet with a new mail to a Group (the Group contains 3 Adresses).

After sending, the delivery report says:
Quote
The delivery of this e-mail delivery has not yet begun. If the scheduled delivery date has been reached, ask your system administrator or technical support if the automated mailer process ('cron job') is set up correctly and how often it runs.

So i went to "Manage Sheduled Jobs". The Job is configurated:

Send Scheduled Mailings (Always)
Sends out scheduled CiviMail mailings
API Prefix: civicrm_api3
API Entity: Job
API Action: process_mailing

With NO PARAMETERS

Now i start the Job manually and i look in the list for sent Emails, the job is now done.
But there are no Mails sent.

Im confused...

I dont know what i´ve done, but now it´s a new situation:

I can create a Mail and test it (step 4) and the testmail will be sent. So, i think that problem is solved.

But when i start the Mailing to send it (step 5), the mail wont be sent......but now i start the cronjob manually, the mails will be sent!  :)

So, now i have only that one problem, that the cronjob should start automtically!!

I used this parameters for process_mailing:

Code: [Select]
wget -O - -q -t 1 --post-data='name=name&pass=pass&key=key
https://mydomain.de/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/bin/cron.php

Wheres the Problem, why the job dont start automatically?

try triggering the cron directly from a browser:

https://mydomain.de/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/bin/cron.php?name=name&pass=pass&key=key

that may give you clues as to the issue (could be simply an incorrect user/pwd/key)
if you run the above and get a white screen or just a joomla admin page, that usually means it was successful. you can go to the scheduled jobs page and check the timestamp for the job to confirm it was indeed triggered successfully.

incidentally, a few things:
- when you trigger a test mailing, it sends immediately. it does not require triggering a job either manually or via cron.
- setting up a cron simply triggers the scheduled job. so our earlier troubleshooting suggestions were focused on getting the email delivered first. setting up the cron successfully is step 2.

if you run the script via the browser and get a user/pwd authentication issue, try logging in as that account and navigate to a civicrm page. it's possible the joomla user was never connected with a civicrm contact record and is failing the permission checks at the civicrm side of things.

Ok, in this experiment, I get an error message:

Code: [Select]
Notice: Undefined index: _PEAR_default_error_mode in /opt/webroot/funkraum/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/TemporaryErrorScope.php on line 51
Notice: Undefined index: _PEAR_default_error_options in /opt/webroot/funkraum/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/TemporaryErrorScope.php on line 52

But the mails will be sent!!!!!

So, now i fixed my problem  ;D

I dont know how, but joomla was settet in debug-mode on server-side......so i get a lot of errors and some jobs (like CiviMail) were stopped.
