Strange issues when upgrading to B4 from B3
March 28, 2013, 06:34:59 am
There are several issues that I have noticed after we upgraded from B3 to B4.  I apologize that I do not have more detail as I do not yet have my head wrapped around this and I have no idea what caused the issues.

My membership signup page is used to create contacts.  It used to ask for a password when creating a membership.  It no longer asks for the user to create a password.

On the membership page we have two possible methods of payment, credit card and pay later.  Because I was having trouble processing credit cards, I disabled and re-enabled my credit card processor.  Unchecked, saved, and resaved the payment method on my contribution page.  When selecting the credit card method and pressing contribute I now get:

Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
We can't load the requested web page. This page requires cookies to be enabled in your browser settings. Please check this setting and enable cookies (if they are not enabled). Then try again. If this error persists, contact the site adminstrator for assistance.

Site Administrators: This error may indicate that users are accessing this page using a domain or URL other than the configured Base URL. EXAMPLE: Base URL is http://example.org, but some users are accessing the page via http://www.example.org or a domain alias like http://myotherexample.org.

Error type: Could not find a valid session key.

Can anyone help me understand what might be going on here?  I did not change any base url configurations.

Is it something with secure pages?

Currently, my site is trashed.  Any and all help would be so very appreciated.

Thank you,

Rob

As mentioned in the error message,  you get this error when page is redirected from  http://example.org to  http://www.example.org or vise-versa.

I would suggest checking your civicrm.settings.php for CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL and then Resource URL, to make sure url are correctly configured.
Both should have either "www" or just simple http://example.org
