Upgrading from 1.5 to 2.5 on Joomla CMS
April 01, 2013, 04:37:59 pm
I am trying to upgrade a Joomla version of CiviCRM and so far I haven't had much luck. I've been following installation instructions to hop from 1.5 to 2.5 on this site. (I cannot post the link to these instructions)

However, my efforts have resulted in an "Initialization Error" bug. I'm not entirelly sure how to handle this - can anyone offer suggestions?
(Note: I can't seem to post all of the error notice! The anti-spam system regards it as an external link)

It sounds like you are having a problem just upgrading your Joomla. These forums are mostly for CiviCRM questions, so you may be in the wrong place.

For a pure Joomla issue like this, you would probably be better off posting on the Joomla forums.

This is definitely a CiviCRM problem, in fact the bug is recorded as being possible under the Drupal installation and seems to be occurring in the Joomla version as well.  However, I can't post any of my error log regarding this because the forums will not allow me to. Your anti-spam software is extremely over-zealous and interprets your own logs as spam, even with anything that possibly looks like a link removed. I can't even post a Pastebin link.

Post it as pastebin dot com / xxy or some such. We can form the URL ourselves and we will look at your code.

pastebin . com / BtwXg4Qf

This error occurred after running the CiviCRM Updater script. I've done a lot of research over possible causes and found what seems to be the same bug listed under the Drupal section, with requests to fix it. It only happens after entering the CiviCRM control panel.

Looks to me from http://pastebin.com/BtwXg4Qf that your CiviCRM codebase is not the same version as your database. Can you uninstall and reinstall and then run the upgrader for CiviCRM?

Forgive me, but..isn't that the point of the Updater script? I followed these instructions while I was upgrading, and it failed flat-out on 1.5 alone.

What are your old and new versions of CiviCRM? If they're too far apart you may need to try a smaller jump.
