Membership Page Fields - New vs. Renewal
April 01, 2013, 07:51:28 pm
Hi everyone,

I am trying to set up a very simple case of a Membership Sign-up/Renewal Page. The question I have is regarding different fields for the Renewal Page vs. New Sign-up Page. I understand that both pages are equivalent and set up through the same Contribution Page - when an existing member logs in, she/he simply sees the different message specified in the Contribution Page Renewal Section.

However, on the Renewal page, we would like existing members (after they log-in) to also see fields such as 'Membership Expiration Date'. This field would not apply to a new member.

My question is - how can you have additional fields on the Renewal Page (like  'Membership Expiration Date') without having them on the New Membership Page. From what I understand through the guide so far, the Profile associated with the Membership Page would apply to both the New Membership and Renewal.

Please let me know if I can clarify the above question any further. Thanks in advance for your help!!

If you are logged in and go to RENEW then it will show a line saying something along lines that you have a Membership of type XX with an expiry date of YY'
See if you can find that so you can tell if it will suffice

Hi petednz, thanks for your quick reply! So if I understand correctly, the Membership Type and Expiry Date are shown to logged in members by default (no fields need to be added manually on the back-end to the form for these to be displayed)? I'm still trying to figure out how to implement the Log in button, I'll let you know as soon as I do to confirm.

Thanks,
Rohit

Take a look on the demo if you want to confirm how 'renew' page looks logged in and logged out

Hi petednz:

I checked the demo out - and it looks like the logged in user sees exactly the same fields as a new user. Hence my confusion. Could you point me (or do you have a screenshot) of where you see the Membership Type and Expiry date for the logged in user seeking to renew?

Thanks,
Rohit

If you go here you will see the line

"Your General membership expires on September 10th, 2014"

at the top in a green box. that is what i was referring to
