ACL question / comment
April 02, 2013, 03:00:21 am
I am not sure where to put this question as it pertains to wordpress acls which are only in 4.3 so I am guessing it belong here.  If not, please push it over to the best location.

We are trying to give access to one set of custom fields if they are authenticated users, and another if they are members.  The trouble is that we would like NOT to give them access to the first set if they are members.

I can see how to use ACLs to not give access to the second set if they are not a member, but not how to shut off the first set if they are also a member.  Members are also authenticated users so both show up on the form if they are a member.

So to get into this more in depth, we would like to present a list of volunteer committee opportunities.  If they are new, there are 3 committees that someone may volunteer to join.  If they have been a volunteer previously, we have a bunch of other committees they may also volunteer for.

I created a custom field that contains all of the committee names.  Then two profiles, each containing either the first three committees, or all of them.  (If it helps, I then use this field to create smart groups of volunteers.)

I would like to offer the first profile to only new volunteers and the second profile to only people who are returning volunteers.  Alternately, to limit the list of all volunteer opportunities to the first three if they have not volunteered before.

Can anyone thing of a way to get this done?

Thank you

Rob
