Contributions by Organization Report - not working at all

The Contributions by Organization report in 4.2 does not produce any output, even with plenty of data.  Just 'sorry, no results found'.  I've tried varying criteria but it produces nothing - but it should because I have many relevant organization contributions.  The equivalent 4.3 sandbox report works fine, and I notice that an extra filter of currency has been added.  I can't find a 4.2 sandbox otherwise I would test it there.

Is there anything I can do to make this work? Apart from installing 4.3 that is.

Could you give an example of the data you have that you think should be shown in the report, that is not showing up?  And the criteria settings you have?

On 4.2.6 for me, this report shows contribution data for related contact records only, rather than the organization itself.   It has a relationship filter (employer of, volunteer is....).

For example, if I use the "Employer of" filter option in the criteria, it shows me only the contributions for an organization's employees, not the organization itself.

This is the description for the report: Displays a detailed list of contributions grouped by organization, which includes contributions made by employees for the organisation.

Well, now I'm using 4.3 but the report showed nothing again... until I looked more closely at your comment and realised that the name of the report is a bit misleading.  It seemed to me that it would show contributions for organisations.  But it doesn't, it only shows contributions for organisations filtered by employee or volunteer.  The title should perhaps be reworded, in fact I've updated my copy, adding 'for employees and volunteers only'.  Problem solved.

I tried thinking of an alternative title that could be suggested, but am finding it's not that easy to come up with something short that's not ambiguous. 

Title: "Contributions by Organization Relationship"?

Description: "Displays a detailed list, grouped by organization, of contributions made only by contacts with the selected relationship to the organization."?

Sounds like a better title and description to me, maybe with the exception of the misspelling of organisation  :-\
