[RESPLVED] Linking an Event to Individual / Organizations?
April 06, 2013, 05:59:32 pm
Dear All,

I am not sure where I should post this to, so if I'm posting into the wrong forum, please feel free to move my post to somewhere else.

I'm currently developing a site using Drupal and CiviCRM.  My boss wants to display a list of Eating Disorders Support Group.  The Support Group is like a program (or an event) that can be owned by an organization and/or by an individual, and it also has a Leader that leads the group.

Originally I created a Support Group as a subtype of Organization and another Support Group as a subtype of Individual, and I created a "Group Leader of" relationship so that I can pull the correct leader information.  However, My boss told me that these Support Group often changes "owner."  For example, an organization may introduce a Support Group, but an individual therapist may completely take it over later on, so that means the staff has to delete the Organization Support Group entry and has to re-create it under Individual Support Group.

So I tried to create these Support Group as a simple event.  However, I don't know how to link them to their respective owners / group leaders (any hints?).  In addition, I'm also thinking of creating these as a Drupal content type, but my boss doesn't like it because he has to use a different UI to view / edit them.

So I wonder if anyone can offer any hints on how I should approach this problem?  Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks,

Aaron

Why do you need to delete the support group? from the relationship tab, you can finish the previous "group leaded by" and create a new one with the new leader. It even allows to keep the history of the change of leadership of a group.
