Custom fields show on Test Drive page but not on Live page
April 09, 2013, 03:35:51 am
Hello,

I have a contribution page set up that includes a profile set with some custom fields.

The profile set shows up fully in the Test Drive (attachment 1) but not on the live page (attachment 2). The custom fields are those visible in the Test Drive attachment labelled "Box Collection" & "Holiday Policy".

I can't find any settings that would stop the fields appearing on the live page so am here asking for some guidance please!  :)

Many thanks!

Paul

Just a couple of questions that come up immediately:
* did you create the profile separately on the test and live server?
* are you sure all the custom field set and fields are the same (and have the same table name and field names behind the screens), depending on the answer on the first question

The error is probably caused by some differences between the 2 environments.

Hi Erik,

Both screenshots are from my live server. The first shows the Test Drive option in the CiviCRM admin area. The second is the live page created via a Joomla menu item.

Regards

Hi Paul,
OK, but I can not see from the pictures where the difference comes from, only that there is one :-)

How familiar are you with MySQL, databases, PHP and other developer stuff?

Hi Erik,

Your mere mention of comparing environments made think about the permissions and Joomla ACL settings. So I went in and saw that:

 "CiviCRM: access all custom data"

was set to "not allowed". Setting to "allow" has solved this problem. So many thanks for taking the time to reply and inspiring my troubleshooting success!  :)

My next suggestion was going to be to ensure that the access rights were the same :-) Glad it worked!
