Fixed memberships are rolling over
April 09, 2013, 06:25:54 am
Hi, all my membership types are set to be fixed (calendar years). However, they've all started rolling (so if you renew now, you get a 12 month period from today).

I went to check the rollover date and fixed start date were correct but I can't find them - I must have gone blind as I used to know how to do this.

1. What is the link for setting this; and
2. Why would a membership type roll at all (whatever the rollover date is set as) if it is listed as fixed?

Thanks.

check on the demo and use the same path, perhaps your admin menu has not rebuilt properly - approx  go to Admin > CiviMember > MmbershipTypes

Possible Issue - Re: Fixed memberships are rolling over
April 10, 2013, 11:54:52 am
Thanks. Found my problem. We've had a one-off short membership period of January-September while we move our membership year from calendar years to October - September. Although I left the memberships as "fixed", when I shortened them to 9 months, all the options for fixed start dates vanished so they can only be rolling. Confusingly, I was offered the choice of listing them as "fixed" or "rolling" although it appears that they will roll whatever I choose.

I'd suggest that this amounts to a bug - EITHER

1. I shouldn't be offered the opportunity to specify a membership under 12 months as "fixed" because even if I do it will roll;

OR

2. I should be able to specify a sub-12 month membership as fixed and pick a date for it to be fixed from (and if that makes renewal a mess, that's my problem).
