4.3.0 is anxious that I should install 4.3.0 !?

I guess this is trivial, but none the less annoying.  On both an upgrade to 4.3.0 and a clean install a pop up message appears when you logon to tell you that you should upgrade to 4.3.0. ('Update available')  Even though you're on 4.3.0 !!  Also, there's a message at the bottom of the screen that tells you a newer version is available.

Also, is there a way to remove the signon splash screen with the 'Welcome to CiviCRM 4.30'  ?

I also found this method, which is better - in the civicrm.settings files add:

$civicrm_setting['CiviCRM Preferences'] ['communityMessagesUrl'] = FALSE;

Yeah, I saw that on another post, but it doesn't work for me - still get the message (meaning I still have to scroll down to see the actual content I use CiviCRM for). Agree that that way is better. If it worked.

the issue has been fixed on 4.3.1, and there is a new release (today?) do the upgrade and civi won't complain anymore ;)

I'm already on 4.3.3 (and yes, thanks, have seen the security upgrade, will get on to that on all my CiviCRM sites v soon) and that setting does not remove the welcome message.

And the message is still saying you should upgrade or is this the one suggesting we should contribute back to the project?

Sorry, Xavier, yes I was referring to the contribute to the project/Welcome message.

Of course I don't object to that suggestion/message, but having it somewhere that obstructs the use of the system is a bit full on. I know you're experimenting.

I know what you mean, it's quite often requested by my users to remove. I take it as an opportunity to lecture them about contributing to civi for sustainability bla bla bla... and then remove it ;)

If you have a suggestion of more effective ways to reach out, please share as you said, we are experimenting
