Ability for users to update their registration info?
March 24, 2008, 08:02:03 am
Hi, I remember when I used 1.9, the users could go back to the registration page and update their info for an event. It would show the registration form w/ all their previous information already filled in.  Now in 2.0, it just shows a message saying "oops, you have already registered for this event".

In 2.0 is it possible to allow users to update their event registration info now?  I need people to be able to register for an event, but must allow them to return at a later date to update/edit their travel details, as their schedules change.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Im using civicrm 2.01 w/ joomla.

Are these "free" events?  I don't think the registration pages where ever designed for "updating" - and we don't want folks to get charged twice or registered multiple times etc. Providing a way for folks to update "selected" portions of their registration would be cool - probably linked from the Contact Dashboard - but not currently on the roadmap. If this is important to your organization, consider contributing a patch or resources to make it happen.

Otherwise - the alternative is to add "text" to the Event Info page directing folks to call your org if they need to change something about their registration (or cancel it). Then you can change whatever needs to be changed from the Contact's Events tab.

Yes, they are free events.  During the registration process to register for one of our events, we ask some information about travel arrangements, hotel and flight info, ect.  And since the event is a few months away, people's schedules change and may need to modify their attending days.

What I was hoping for was a way for them to edit/update that information.  My idea was to have a deadline for changes, so they could go in and make as many changes as they want up to a certain day/time, then it cuts off.  Thats what I would collect the information and give it to the travel agent.

But if its not possible to allow them to edit any of that, I guess the only way at the moment is to just have them call/email us with the changes they want and have us make the changes.

That would be a nice feature to allow them to edit parts of it, like you said.
