On-behalf-of Organization Address Capture
April 18, 2013, 07:48:33 am
I have an organisation that want's to customized it's member join/renew form top clone individual address details to org address fields.

Specifically we current have the form set up for "On-behalf-of Organization " with some org  fields that open up when org member type subscription is selected. We get that in civi terms the individual will be the contact for comms purposes, but as indivisuals may change and orgs be more stable, they would like to capture org address data on signup as well. Problems are:
  • how to present the org address fields - we can create a profile that will show for org member types for org custom fields etc, but not for basic address fields
  • how we might get the data cloned from the 'on behalf of' individual to the org, invisibly, without js and hiding the org address fields - assuming we could present them in the first place (as above).
Any clues as to best practice on this would be appreciated, thanks.

Tim  - In recent versions of CiviCRM the fields offered for On Behalf of Organization section of the contribution form are configurable. That part of the form uses the 'reserved' On Behalf of Organization profile - so you can add / remove core and custom fields for that profile (as long as the fields 'belong to' general Contact or Organization records).

Some sceenshots attached (I added Preferred Language to the default set as an example of how you can modify the form).

Thanks Dave I think this is going to be real helpful
Slightly delayed replying  - had missed your response (expected a forum notification) - and now we're dealing with some bad forms rendering issues after a 4.3.1 update - but will be sure to take this up as soon as we're back on top-  thanks again!
