PHP version for CIVICRM4.3
April 19, 2013, 07:14:29 am
Hi
I was hoping to start using CIVICRM on a web install. The CIVICRM requirements for PPHP is 5.3.X  I ordered hosting from and started the process for installation. Drupal 7.4 installed without issue when I tried to install CIVICRM I got this message
"PHP5 installed   You need PHP version 5.3.3 or later, only 5.3.2 is installed. Please upgrade your server, or ask your web-host to do so."

Because it is a shared service my web-host said it will not be able to upgrade PHP at this time. They do not offer any money back. Is there a possibility of installing with PHP5.3.2?

Also instead of saying that CIVICRM can work with PHP 5.3.X can  the documentation be more explicit so we can check with the  web-hosts before we sign-up or attempt upgrades?

Appreciate any response.

Thanks

Hershel

Hi. It sounds like you are quoting the wiki, and if so, you can edit that yourself actually. Can you tell us which page you are referring to?

By the way, Drupal 7.4 is quite an old version is not secure--the latest stable and secure version of Drupal is 7.22

I've fixed the install/upgrade versions to mention 5.3.3+

Sorry. My mistake; the Drupal version is 7.22.

Yes I was quoting the wiki installation guide. I notices that it has been updated (as posted by Donald Lobo). Does version 4.2 also require PHP 5.3.3? That installation guide ('wiki page 1') also says 5.3x?

And Thanks for both your quick responses!

Hi
I've got the same issue.
I put the following line at the end of the .htaccess file placed within www/
SetEnv PHP_VER 5_3

then it worked !
