Smart Group based on Membership type
March 25, 2008, 03:31:56 am
I want to create a smart group of all contacts who are flagged as Life Members. I select all individuals in Advanced Search and select "Life Member" under the memberships tab. This returns 38 members out of 1203 in total which is correct. I check all 38 members and select "New Smart Group" from the dropdown, click go, give it a name, and the group is created. When I view the group members through Manage Groups, it returns all 1203 members instead of the 38. I also notice when creating the group that the sql syntax drops off the member type = Life Member. This would explain the result. Is it not possible to create a smart group based on membership type ???

I just tried this on my local install with 2.0 and it works as expected. What version of CiviCRM are you running? If you can replicate your results on the 2.0 demo (http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org) - that would be best. If so, please file an issue in the issue tracker w/ detailed instructions on how to replicate.

Also, where are you viewing the "sql syntax (which) drops of the member type ..." ?

Dave, interesting. Works fine on the Drupal 2.0 test site. I'm running 2.01 on Joomla and it doesnt work. When you click on New Smart group and the screen refreshes and prompts for a group name, the search syntax is displayed. On my system, Membership Type = Life Member disappears. It remains on the Test site.
Cheers
Brett
