Change Participant Status with url

Hello,

I'm working on an event with hundreds of tickets sold.  I have been looking into the api and wondering...

Is is possible to change the participant status with a url that included an admins username and password.

What I'm trying to do is create tickets with a QR code that can be scanned at the door to check people in.  If this isn't possible does anyone have a better way that they are checking people in that I might be able to replicate?
