Error database upgrade upgrading civi 4.2.7 to 4.3.1 on MAMP and Joomla 2.5.10

Hi,

I just now tried to upgrade civi 4.2.7 to 4.3.1 local on an imac running MAMP (with Innodb as default) and Joomla 2.5.10. It looked allright but right after installing the upgrade the system asked for a data-upgrade. This went to nowhere: an indefinite  blank screen.
When I restarted I got a message asking if I was ready to upgrade database, when I click yes, I get this error-message on screen:

error-message:
[Error: undefined]
Error 1: Function name must be a string in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/crm-backup/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Queue/ErrorPolicy.php, line 80

Retried, re-read instructions, re-tried, etc.: no go.

Any help much appreciated.
MAMP runs on php 5.4.10, mySql version is 5.5.29.

I rolled back the site and tried an upgrade from 4.2.7 to 4.2.8: same error message.

"[Error: undefined]
Error 1: Function name must be a string in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/crm-backup/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Queue/ErrorPolicy.php, line 80"

Pity.

Okay now.
I made a clean Joomla installation and imported all civicrm data via phpmyadmin, and tried again, and now it works.
Opgrades are installed and everything is working all-right.
