Synchronizing all fields when importing Drupal users
May 01, 2013, 07:42:35 pm
Hello,

The site I'm working on has been set up to import its Drupal users into CiviCRM. However, only the name and email end up in CiviCRM - all the other profile fields (company, phone, etc) are discarded.

So what is the proper way to import all of the custom fields on the Drupal users' side into CiviCRM? Is there a way to link the fields?

Hi there,

I'm not 100% sure how you're collecting your data, so I don't think this question is answerable without more info.  Are you using a CiviCRM profile and custom fields during Drupal signup?  Or are the custom fields part of a Drupal content type?

Yes it sounds like you are using a Drupal Profile approach - or Drupal User fields.

You need to let go and use the CiviCRM Profiles (with 'contact' or 'individual' fields) with one set up for use on Drupal registration and one or more for Drupal user edit.

Check the CiviCRM Book about use of Profiles perhaps to get an overview.
