signing up children for events
May 01, 2013, 09:12:40 pm
Hi - I posted about emailing an attendee's relations (the parents) http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,28346.msg121181.html#msg121181 with the assumption that someone could signup other people for events, but now I question that assumption.

I don't see a way for a parent to sign up their kids for an event and make payment for that event.  It looks like the Drupal webform integration module would allow a parent to signup their kids but not make payments that way - is that correct?  Is it possible to do this just through the event feature without custom coding?

I see a post http://civicrm.org/blogs/lhubbert/camp-registration-streamlining-webform-civi-integration that describes using ubercart, webform (w/ civi webform), and civicrm that achieves what I'm striving for ...but I'm wondering if there's a more efficient approach?

I also wonder if I should ask this type of question in the "Using CiviCRM" forum instead?

Thanks!

Coleman Watts

Yup, that's about right. This has been a difficulty for me for quite some time (using CiviCRM for summer camp registration). Webform integration with a redirect to a civicrm contribution page is the best I've been able to do so far (adding a hook to calculate the total fees at the top of the page, and a custom field to group together all the events a single parent has registered various kids for).
There has been some discussion about adding this feature into webform integration, so you would have integrated payments for events on the webform. Would you be able to chip in for such an improvement?
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Since we'll be selling merchandise with Drupal Commerce it might make most sense for our project to go a similar route as lhubbert's blogpost, but I'm not sure.

But if this makes the most sense for our project and contributing money towards the effort could yield results soon enough, then it's quite possible we'd be able to contribute that way.  I would not be able to contribute by writing code.  So that'd be for Drupal's webform_civicrm?

With your hook to calculate the fees... is that full on writing php?  I vaguely recall seeing something about Civi having an easy scripting thing for templates or something...

THanks!
