Problem with SSL

I've got Civi 2.1 running on a Joomla 1.5.2 site. Working fine except that I get errors when trying to enforce SSL urls. I can enforce the urls through Joomla and my direct links to the contribution pages, so I'm able to workaround the problem. But I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this issue.

When I enable enforce SSL and try to navigate to a contrib page with http:// I get the yellow error screen and it states SSL is not setup on this domain.

can u check your apache ssl logs. we try to check that folks have SSL access before we switch the URL's. So we do a HEAD request on the baseURL (typically home page for the site)

If you want to debug, the relevant code is in CRM/Utils/System.php, function checkURL and redirectToSSL

Still not sure what's going on. Nothing is coming up in the SSL logs. I'm able to comment out the checkURL function and the redirection works fine, so at least I can ensure security for the contribution pages.

I don't think it's a problem with the script. I just upgraded a similar site (J1.5+C2.0.2) and the SSL redirection is working fine. So it must be something at the hosting end of things. Thanks for the direction though.
