Should I use a profile or an event? (multiple events/'profile use' per user)
May 03, 2013, 03:29:16 am
Hey there

I have a site where employers can register themselves and a "job" they have. I do this through a profile with custom fields as job title, job description, date time, place, etc. The profile also contains some of the default contact fields such as name, phone, address, etc.

The profile is used for initial (drupal) user registration, and also for public listings where possible employees can see what jobs are available.

All the jobs are for one day only (5-7 hours).

This is much like an event, and I'm considering to use events instead of profiles. The primary reason being that a few employers wants to create multiple jobs (we are talking maybe 20 employers out of a thousand). So employers should register and then create an event for each job they want to make available. This is one step more than now where they register and create the job in one step through the profile.

So what do you think? Should it be events, and then allow the user with role "employer" to create events of type "job".
Or is there some way to use keep on using the profile, but allow the user to create multiple jobs through a profile?

Thanks in advance for all thoughts, ideas and help :)

I would probably use Drupal Webform and set it up to 'create an Activity' for 'job vacancy' or whatever
then you can list those in a Drupal View
