Problem with migration of CiviCRM 3.4.4
May 09, 2013, 07:49:25 am
Hi all,

I would really appreciate if someone will help with advice.

After moving a Joomla site with CiviCRM to a new shared hosting, I run into the problem with memory limit.

At first, my account type had memory_limit 192M

When I tried to upgrade CiviCRM links, I got this kind of error when clicking on CIviCRM component link in the admin panel:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 201326592 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 523800 bytes) in /home/crossr00/crossroads.org.ua/dev/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Utils/File.php on line 115

Then I upgrade the hosting account to 256MB memory_imit

But I got this error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 523800 bytes) in /home/crossr00/crossroads.org.ua/dev/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Utils/File.php on line 115

I cannot upgrade my shared account with more memory. The host is suggesting to move to a VPS.

Is there a way to get this under control and get CiviCRM to run under this kind of limitations or do I have to move to another host?

Thanks in advance,

Victor

I am not aware of a way to configure CiviCRM to use less memory. I have seen this problem before--on servers not configured ideally for CiviCRM, it can use a lot of RAM. Changing hosts in such a case can help. Or discuss with your host if they can assist to get it to run better.
