Sudden High Bounce Rate - Failed to set sender

Had CiviMail up and running for about a year now with no problems. Send out a message today to 200 people, and it bounced on 90% of those with the error:

Failed to set sender: example@example.com [SMTP: Invalid response code received from SMTP server while sending email. This is often caused by a misconfiguration in Outbound Email settings.

Obviously, this doesn't make sense, as it did go through to 10% of the recipients on the mailing with the same Outbound Email settings. We are going to try resending to the other 90% again tomorrow, but in the meantime, any ideas what would cause this?

This seems to have just been a one off issue. Amazon SES must have gone down momentarily. Hasn't happened since.

I have received an 80% bounce rate on June 5th, 2013 3:17 PM GMT using Amazon SES as well; has this recurred for you?

No, it hasn't. I also ran into some problems though with higher than 100% send right with Amazon SES as I increased the send speed (I was sending 1200 a minute).

I've throttled it back to 250 per minute, and I haven't had any problems since.
