Using CiviCRM on Intranet
May 11, 2013, 06:49:08 am
Hello, I have been trying CIVICRM for my organization for the past six months. Its a GREAT software for daily use. Currently I am using this with wordpress on a single Windows PC. I have a local network of five PC in my organization. I am unable to find any documentation related to intranet settings of CIVICRM. Please guide on this issue, It would be easy for me.
thanks and Regards

Hello. This is not a CiviCRM issue in reality. This is a question about how to setup an intranet. It depends on your server software and your network etc.

Easiest way:
1) Get yourself an Ubuntu machine. If you don't already have one, those tiny ubuntu plug-in servers are popular (wallwart, greendrive, etc).
2) Set it up to have a static ip address
3) Install LAMP, Wordpress and CiviCRM
4) Intranet users can now use it by accessing its ip address. Optionally you can assign it a name in your router's local dns settings.

As Hershel mentioned, there are many other ways to do this, and many variations on the above. Consult the relevant documentation.

Sir, please search online and read the documentation for your tools and then if you have any specific questions, let us know.

If you Google for "Microsoft webplatform intranet" you will find tutorials how to achieve what you want.

Agree with Hershel. This forum does not provide support for Ubuntu or Microsoft Webplatform or any other platform. You can find documentation for those elsewhere. Once you have found instructions and set up your network, you can install CiviCRM in the normal way.
