Is there a way to force users to sign up or login on contribution page.

Drupal 7.22
Civicrm 4.3.1

When you are anonymously getting a membership or making a contribution, you have to enter a lot of the same information you do when you sign up as a Drupal user. I was surprised to find out that you only become a "contact" when you anonymously sign up for a membership or make a contribution. Is there a way to add a sign in form before going to the page  OR on the page, or allow users to create new users on the page?

I figured this would be a big enough usecase that I'm just missing a configuration somewhere. If anyone has any ideas about how this could be accomplished... give me a hollar.

Yes, configure a profile with "create user" on its advanced options, and add that profile to the contribution form.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Thanks for the tip. Sometimes I get lost in all the settings and things I can do... particularly since this is my first project with Civi.

Cool, I'm going to elaborate a bit on this, because I had to go through and figure out which permission was the correct one on drupal's side to get it where an anonymous person could see a contribution page with a profile added to it.

Make sure that the role of the user that you are trying to do this with has "CiviCRM: profile listings and forms" enabled. Otherwise you get a beautiful yellow error page that says:

Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
The requested Profile (gid=##) is disabled OR it is not configured to be used for 'Profile' listings in its Settings OR there is no Profile with that ID OR you do not have permission to access this profile. Please contact the site administrator if you need assistance.
