Two sites, both with memory issues
March 27, 2008, 01:42:15 pm
Hi there,

I am having a problem with my Civicrm installations on two sites, both with different hosts.

The first one I did a manual install, but get 500 Internal Server Errors on certain pages, such as events.  Checking the logs, I saw it was a memory problem, so using php.ini changed the memory to 64M -- the phpinfo file reflects this, yet I am still getting the same errors.

Using:
Drupal 5.7
Civicrm 1.8.11536
PHP 4.4.7
MySQL 4.1.22

The second one, I am stuck on install, as it says I only have 8M.  Once again, I have changed this to 64M in php.ini and it is reflected in the phpinfo.

Using:
Drupal 5.1
Civicrm 2.0.1
PHP 5.2.4
MySQL 4.1.22

Any suggestions?

Donald Lobo

Since the second one is more recent and supported, lets focus on that.

Can u give us more details on what "stuck on install" means?

Any specific reason why u are not using drupal 5.7 oor the secone one

thanx

Hi Lobo,

Thanks so much for your response.

When looking at the install page, it says I only have 8M memory and to increase it -- it's as though it's not recognising that I have increased the memory.

I'm not using Drupal 5.7 as it is an older site that I am now installing Civicrm on -- but I will update this to 5.7 asap.

With the first site, I have updated to php5 and am currently uploading Civicrm 2.0.1.

Thanks again for your help!

Okay, it appears I have resolved both of these issues!

For the first site, I upgraded PHP to 5.2.3 and reinstalled Civicrm using version 2.0.1 this time -- everything appears to be working great.

The second site, I upgraded Drupal to version 5.7 and reinstalled Civicrm.  The automated installer was still telling me that I only had 8M memory despite me setting it to 64M in php.ini, which was reflected in the phpinfo file.  I then uploaded the same php.ini file to sites/all/modules/civicrm/drupal/install and the installer then picked up that memory was set to 64M and the rest of the install went smoothly.

Thanks again for your help Lobo.
