CiviCRM not showing for Editor or Author permission level
May 23, 2013, 05:11:06 am
Hi,

On a recent installation of CiviCRM on Wordpress only Administrators have access to the administrative area of CiviCRM. Users with Author or Editor permissions do not seem to have any access to CiviCRM admin at all. I thought Authors and Editors were given access to the admin area on CiviCRM by default? Maybe I need to adjust the settings somehow?

Version 4.3 with the addition of WordPress Access Control change this.  The documentation you referenced is out of date.

I am using version 4.3, but only WP administrators are able to see CiviCRM in the WP backend, even though they have been given permission in the Wordpress Access Control area.

I have configured Wordpress Access Control on our system to allow 'Editors', Authors' and 'Contributors' to access CiviCRM (i.e. the CiviCRM icon is visible in WordPress).

In order for Wordpress users other than administrators to access CiviCRM, you must enable access for other Wordpress Roles under WordPress Access Control.  You have to check "CiviCRM: access CiviCRM" for the role you want to grant access to.  It's the eighteenth item in the list of permission.

This just allows access to CiviCRM.  You allow need to grant access to whatever function you want users with a given WordPress role to have access to.

Thanks Aglozier... I had missed that one. Much appreciated.
