How to configure and process BOUNCE mailbox under Civi
May 28, 2013, 05:35:20 am
Hi,
My mail stats are working OK for clicks,.

I need some desperate help in configuring Civi Bounce, Forward and Reply.

What I have done so far?
1. Configured a bounce mail box (CatchAll) at Domain control Panel . I checked and I do receive bounced emails there.
2. Setup access details to Bounce Mailbox thru CiviMail
3. Sent some emails to wrong address/non-existing domains
4. Bounced emails received at bounce mailbox
5. I run scheduled job "Fetch Bounces (Hourly) Fetches bounces from mailings and writes them to mailing statistics"
5. Mails not processed by CiviMail

Will emails be deleted after successful processing of bounce mailbox?

Can you see if I doing something wrong ?

Thanks

kharding

CiviCRM should create two folders in the email account - one called "processed" and one called "ignored" (they may be prepended with civicrm or something like that).

Are these folders being created in your mail account?

Hi,
I don't see these folders anywhere. How can I debug this?

Thanks

Have you checked the Scheduled Job log and see if there's an error there? It should tell you if there was something in particular wrong.

Interesting. I've had this before.

I set up a different catch-all email address and tried it there, to see if there was a difference. It worked then.

Do you have access to your mail server logs? You may get a hint as to what's going wrong if you check them.

Hi,
I will try and create another account to see what happens. I am using shared webspace so don't have access to Mail logs.

Is there no way within CiviCRM to create debug logs for mail process?

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry for reviving this post, but I am facing a very similar problem. Crazywolf, were you able to solve your problem?

I had set up a Gmail IMAP account to receive my bounces & I am getting my bounce mails correctly. I also see that CiviCRM is creating the 2 in-boxes, processed & ignored. But when I perform a fetch_bounces operation, there are no errors reported, but CiviCRM doesn't put the contact *on hold* or doesn't seem to do anything. The reports say that all the mails have been delivered as well.

Can anyone please help me with the problem? I am using CiviCRM version 4.1.1 extension with Joomla! version 2.5.6.

I appreciate the help!

Thanks,
Arjun
