Migrating Civicrm install from one hosting company to another
March 28, 2008, 04:01:40 am
OK, I am a novice when it comes to SQL databases and stuff. I had a civicrm install on my site hosted over at Siteground but am moving to Godaddy. I'm not 100% certain the drupal/sql/? installations between the two sites are entirely the same version etc. Can someone point me to step-by-step directions of how to migrate my existing civicrm install to the new host?

I actually had siteground do the original installation for me for a fee (which was a great feature of theirs! only $50) because I was just not having luck following the installation instructions. So the migration does scare me!

Thanks in advance!

The migration, in theory, requires only exporting/importing the database and copying over the files. The catch might be if your domain, or, in general, the address that you access your CiviCRM installation changes, but this should be resolvable by tweaking the relevant Administer CiviCRM settings.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.
