Status of Multiple Event Registration code?

There is some code in core that allows a shopping cart that helps a user register for multiple events in one transaction. It can be enabled or disabled, but you have to be either only using it or not using it at all: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/event?reset=1. I am wondering what the experience of people using this feature is, as it advertised as alpha code. I have a client without much money who would like this functionality and I think I should tell them that it is not available, since they won't be able to afford developer time to fix significant bugs. Comments and feedback welcome.
