CiviMail fails to send to contacts with Is_Deceased NULL
May 29, 2013, 08:02:59 pm
I have a new-ish CiviCRM install.  I have cron working.  My CiviMail test run found (that is, listed correct count of "total recipients", ) and succesfully sent to every group member.  But!  In our first attempt at a real mailing, CiviMail found only 26 of 144 group members with e-mail address and successfully sent only to those 26 of 144.  We used Maiings->New Mailing for both.  I am mystified.  We only have a handful of contacts with any of the e-mail privacy settings set.  The vast majority of our data is imported, the import source included no 'home' or 'work' data, and everything was imported into type 'main' and for second addresses 'other'.

 drupal 7.22 and civicrm 4.3.4 (was 4.3.3)

demo also seems to fail to send to some group members with e-mail addresses
June 01, 2013, 01:03:42 pm
I've checked this out on the demo, using the Newsletter Subscribers group.

This group includes 37 members with e-mail addresses, 6 of which are "do not e-mail", so 31.  I don't see any there on hold or with bulk mail opt-out, and I don't see any duplicates in the search results listing.

Yet a CiviMail New Mailing reports that it will send to only 25 addresses.

Am I missing something, or is there perhaps a bug here?

Re: CiviMail 4.3.3 fails to find, send to many group members with e-mail addresses

I've also verified that none of the relevant Boolean fields are set to NULL.  All of them are 0 or 1, as they should be.

I'm not finding any error messages, not on the page, not in the logs, to give me a clue what's going on.

Anyone have any tips for figuring this out?

I'm still having the problem in 4.3.4.

Re: CiviMail fails to send to contacts with Is_Deceased NULL

I had not in fact confirmed that Is_Deceased was not NULL for many of my contacts.

I found the relevant CiviCRM code and learned that Is_Deceased must = 0, or CiviMail will not send.

Though CiviCRM is apparently content to include Is_Deceased NULLs on a postal mailing list.   :-\
