Simplest way to upgrade database from 1.7 to 2.0
March 28, 2008, 06:50:05 am
Hi,

I've held off upgrading until now and need to go from 1.7 to 2.0.  Is there a way of doing this without doing three CiviCRM installs (i.e. 1.7->1.8->1.9->2.0) in a row?  I'd just do an import but I need to preserve groups, smart groups, activity history, changelogs etc...basically the whole lot.
A script that would whizz through the database and make it 2.0 compatible in one sweep would be ideal, basically.

All the db upgrade scripts are included with each distro. You'll need to run the civicrm_upgradedb_v1.7_v1.8_41.mysql then civicrm_upgradedb_v1.8_v1.9_41.mysql and then do the 1.9 to 2.0 upgrade. Clearly you should do this on a backup of your db or at least have a backup.

Thanks for that - realise I should have checked the docs more thoroughly!
