WSOD - need help - site down for days - small non-profit
May 30, 2013, 11:06:08 am
Hello,

All of a sudden we started getting the WSOD. Running civi 4.0.8 and Drupal 7.

I tried increasing memory, checking logs, enabling, relabeling, clearing caches, etc... to no avail. We have reached desperation here..

At this point I think a reinstall is necessary.

I have a backup of my database and was planning on upgrading to 4.3.3 anyway.

What are the best series of steps to upgrade?

From reading the forums I get the sense that it goes something like this:

delete the tables from my database
remove the modules and settings file from my server
Install 4.3.3 like a new
Restore my 4.08 database into the new installation
run the upgrader.

Am I even close on this?

Thanks

Yes that ought to work. Upgrading directly from 4.0 to 4.3 is tested and supported.
A simpler workflow might be
- backup your database first!
- don't delete the tables
- don't disable civicrm module - leave it enabled
- replace the civicrm code with the latest 4.3
- run the upgrader
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Thanks,

Unfortunately, I can't leave the 4.08 module enabled, a soon as I did, the entire site white screened. I couldn't disable logging as stated in the upgrade instructions.

So I tried the upgrade anyway, got a page not found when i tried to access the upgrader.

So i figure it would be best to start from scratch.

Thanks so much for the confirmation.

Coleman,

I installed, removed the database, copied the old database over, ran the upgrade, now I'm getting this error:

Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
The upgrade has identified some schema integrity issues in the database. It seems some of your constraints are missing. You will have to rebuild your schema before re-trying the upgrade.

Any Ideas?
