As topic says, I'm running latest civiCRM, with internationalization installed. I'm running Joomla 2.5.11, and JoomFish 2.5.1.

When I toggle from English to French, core Joomla elements appear in French, but the civiCRM French labels (for example in Edit Profile), remained displayed in English.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this would be the case?

You will need to change localization in CiviCRM. Check Administer >> Localization >> Languages, Currency, Location
and change default language to French

Thanks, I think I found the issue/solution.

The default language for my Joomla install is English, as is for civiCRM. And this is what I require.

It appears though that civiCRM doesn't provide French translations for the 3 default profile names and fields -- I need to manually enter the French label translations (for First Name, Last Name, City, etc...)

Now if only I can figure out where to enter the French list of province names for Canada!

I think if you set localization to French in CiviCRM, it should show state provinces in french if they are translated.

Thanks for advice. But I am building a bilingual web site. So, when users view these fields on English version of site, they should see English names of provinces. If a user changes their language option to French, then they should see this list with French province names. They see the countries in French, but not the provinces...

It might be possible that strings for state province are not translated correctly for french. You should check https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/civicrm/resource/provinces/l/fr/view/ and may be help with translation :)

That's the issue. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
Now that I have an account on Transifex, I can provide the translations :-)
