I have a need to control the order (weighting) of Contact and Activity fields within the Petition signature form.  Currently, the Contact profile fields are displayed first in weighted priority, followed by the Activity fields.  However, I want to interleave the Contact and Activity fields, specifying the order of all fields in the interleaved set.

Use-case: Data entry of paper petition responses into CiviCRM - aligning field ordering on paper with the electronic form to increase data entry throughput.

What are the recommended ways of achieving this?

As far as I observed via working with Profiles, it is not possible to interleave Activity fields with Contact/Individual fields. For this reason, I am using petitions which are designed to associate a Contact profile with an Activity profile.

1) If I have a profile with only Contact or Individual fields, the "Use (create mode)" button is displayed and the "HTML form snippet" output is legit

2) If I have a profile with only Activity fields, the "Use (create mode)" button is not displayed and the "HTML form snippet" output contains "Profile search, view and edit are not supported for Profiles which include fields for more than one record type"

3) Same outcome as (2) if I interleave Contact/Individual fields with Activity fields
