4.1 beta 3 - non-recoverable error upon restore after failed upgrade
June 09, 2013, 03:25:14 pm
Please help...

I have had a bit of a nightmare after upgrading to 4.3.3 from 4.1 beta3

After upgrading I was receiving an error whenever I tried to save data see my post http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,29024.msg124475.html#msg124475

Having looked in to this I realised web host only have PHP 5.3.24 which I can only presume was causing the error. So I asked my hosting company to restore the backup I made prior to the upgrade...now I am receiving the following error whenever I try to action anything in Civi.

If you have a solution please advise as all our sites have been down now for 3 days...

Code: [Select]
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
DB Error: no such field

 [nativecode=1054 ** Unknown column 'title' in 'field list']
    [type] => DB_Error
    [user_info] => SELECT  id, title
 FROM civicrm_group

 WHERE ( is_hidden = 0 )  AND (  civicrm_group.is_active = 1 )

 ORDER BY title
 [nativecode=1054 ** Unknown column 'title' in 'field list']
    [to_string] => [db_error: message="DB Error: no such field" code=-19 mode=callback callback=CRM_Core_Error::handle prefix="" info="SELECT  id, title
 FROM civicrm_group

 WHERE ( is_hidden = 0 )  AND (  civicrm_group.is_active = 1 )

 ORDER BY title
 [nativecode=1054 ** Unknown column 'title' in 'field list']"]
)

On top of this I get the following message on my dashboard when I log in...

Your database is marked with an unexpected version number: 4.3.3. The v4.1.beta3 codebase may not be compatible with your database state. You will need to determine the correct version corresponding to your current database state. You may want to revert to the codebase you were using until you resolve this problem.

OR if this is an svn install, you might want to fix version.txt file.

Thanks in advance

Seems to me that your hosting company did not restore the backup database correctly. :(

Hi Hershel

sigh...I have ongoing argument with them about this but they insist the db is corrupt and the backup was successful. I disagree as;

Now the code base of CiviCRM is version 4.1.beta3 and database is version CiviCRM 4.3.3
Loads of cron jonb text/x-generic files appeared as did other backup files I deleted long ago
my password for cPanel was not recognised
Email accounts were dropped

Problem is they don't seem to want to do anything and I have already made 3 phone calls and some 20 plus posts on their support line. They keep closing the ticket and I keep opening it again.

Think I need to look for an alternative service provider but this scares me as I will have to move everything over. Plus the fact we are a small not for profit and can't afford a massive outlay.

Do you think the php version was the initial error when upgrading to 4.3.3?

Do you know of any way I can get the db operational

Can you suggest a hosting company at a reasonable cost with good support?

Regards

Robbie

I'm not sure but I don't think your initial error was due to a PHP version. It appears to be a MySQL issue--sometimes these happen on upgrades and must be dealt with.

Anyhow, yes, I would definitely suggest you find a better host as it sounds like your current one is neither professional nor reliable.

As far as a recommendation, there is a host mentioned in the footer to this post and I understand that they are the best, but you mustn't take my word for that because I am biased. :)
