n00b error can't undo Force SSL
June 11, 2013, 08:45:41 am
Can someone tell me where the "Force SSL" is stored in options or databases (not in the Resource URLs area of CiviCRM admin screens).

I made a fat finger mistake and checked to Force SSL - but do not have an SSL certificate. SO I cannot get back to that page to un-dot that radio select.

Can anyone tell me a way to change this option in config files or the database?

I tried to reinstall civi then reupload my database without the civicrm_domain table as if I was migrating (hoping the setting not to force SSL from new install would stick), but as soon as i uploaded my database back (without civicrm_domain table - at least I thought!) I was locked out of those pages again due to SSL.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by "locked out" - afaik you do not need an ssl certificate to be able to access a page via https - your browser will scream at you with a big red warning, but you can ignore it and keep browsing.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

When I did it the browser screamed at me like you're describing and I thought that would be that, however when I try to enter the Resource URL admin settings I get a 404 error (that I didn't get the moment before checking that box).

"The requested URL /civicrm/admin/setting/url was not found on this server."

Similarly I get that on any contribution pages..  the url only tries to switch to https for those pages and has a red line through it (as expected), but they all also throw 404 errors.

The do not show up in logs in /files/ConfigandLogs or as page not found errors in drupal logs (through drupal admin menus, recent logs).  no error messages or tracebacks.

Thanks.

I am having the very same problem - were you able to resolve the issue?

Although it will also erase localization settings (default country and currency) you can try setting to NULL the config_backend column in the civicrm_domain table.  Make a backup prior.
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.
