Uninstalling Civi w/o wiping out the underlying Drupal install
June 13, 2013, 09:46:36 am
I am running Civi 4.1.  Due to a lack of version-specific db analysis/repair tooling, quirky behaviors, etc., my management has me moving us off, but keeping the Drupal platform.

I have not yet found any definitive procedure for deleting Civi safely w/o disabling the Drupal side of things.

Initial testing (renaming the Civi directory and settings file) causes a big fat red Civi error message of one sort or another on every single page of the Drupal installation.

The Civi checkbox in the Modules section of the Drupal admin area is grayed out so I can't disable it that way.

Anyone know how to get this done without doing harm to the underlying patient?

To disable the module, you must disable whatever other modules require CiviCRM. The modules page says what those are.

Once that is done, you can remove sites/default/civicrm.settings.php and remove civicrm from your modules directory also.

Thank you Hershel,

You beat me to the punch: I just realized moments ago that WSM Hooks was dependent on Civi.  As a result I am able to disable WSM and the underlying Civi module.

Thanks as well.
