Recurring contributions showing up as status "Pending"

My organization is starting to promote a "monthly giving program" to our supporters. Unfortunately, when a donor selects the recurring contribution option through our Drupal website, it gets entered in CiviCRM as a "pending (incomplete transaction)" in the status in their contribution record. The donor's credit card is being automatically charged each month as planned (we use PayJunction), but the payments do not get automatically entered in CiviCRM each month as I thought they would. Is there a better way to set this up so I don't have to enter the contributions manually each month? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time!

That's a limitation of your payment processor plugin, and possibly your payment processor itself. By default, CiviCRM assumes that recurring payment plans are managed by the payment processor and need some kind of confirmation that they actually go through (typically using a mechanism called IPN). You can do that manually as a work around (based on whatever reporting you get from your payment processor), or else you'll have to get some work done with your payment processor plugin, or switch payment processors.

I think in this case upgrading to 4.5.1 may help

Maybe, but I think you're also adding in a separate issue about membership. The problem in her case sounds like a more fundamental problem of just recurring contributions and her payment processor, which isn't solved in 4.5 specifically ...
