Can't change language
June 13, 2013, 11:23:18 pm
I've just installed CiviCRM on a new Joomla installation and tried to configure it.
In the Localitazion it looks I cannot change the language, the only option available is ENGLISH. In the "Preferred language options" I see Italian is enabled as well as many other languages, but when I return to the "Language & Currency" setting page I can perform all the changes available (country, pronvice, currency) but NOT the language, which is forced to english.

What should I do?
Thanks

mathieu

The "preferred language options" is, if I recall correctly, related to the preferences of your contacts. It's just to configure the available checkbox options in the "edit contact record" form.

In the "Localization" page, if you have only English, it's because you may be missing the l10n directory in your civicrm directory. You can find the civicrm-4.3.4-l10n.tar.gz archive here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.3.4/

Unpack it in the root of your civicrm directory, so that you have, for example, civicrm/l10n/it_IT/civicrm.mo.

does it work the same under Joomla? Do I have to follow the same procedure?
As of your knowledge, why the installation process didn't complete it as well?

I am having the same problem with CiviCRM for Wordpress.  I am running CiviCRM 4.3.4 on this site.  I installed the localization pack as follows:
/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/l10n
/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/sql

Still, no joy.
