2 memberships with arbitrary dues on one page - need help configuring!
June 16, 2013, 09:20:40 pm
I tried many different options, but so far I was not able to configure the following scenario in CiviCRM for WordPress:

Members can choose to pay dues either monthly or annually.
Monthly options: min $10, $25, $50, $100, other amount. Monthly membership is automatically recurring each month starting from the 1st of the enrollment month.
Yearly options: min $120, $300, $600, $1200, other amount. Yearly amount is not recurring and expires a year from the enrollment date.
Both sets of options should be on the same page.

I tried to use price sets, but I don't see an "other amount" and a "minimum" options there - please point me out!
Also, where is this "none" radio button coming from and why? Is there a way to remove it via admin?

Even without these options, so far I have not been able to add 2 membership price sets to the same Contribution page.
If someone could guide me through the steps, that would be highly appreciated!
Thanks!

'none' exists as an option for a field because that particular field is not required.

You are trying to do too much on one page.  split the functionality into two pages, monthly and yearly.  Granted, anything is possible, so with custom work you can get it all on one page, but not unless you feel like coding php or hiring someone to do that.

Philosophically speaking, if working on a tight budget it's best to explore what the software already does and 'go with the flow' than to try to get the software to do what you imagine it should.

Stoob, thanks for the help with the 'none' option.

However, there is nothing unusual in the scenario I have described - it is very standard for non-profits. I attached the mockup just in case.

Besides, according to CiviCRM documents, price sets were introduced exactly for this purpose: to be able to offer different types of membership on one page. And I even found a similar example here: wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Membership+Price+Sets , but unfortunately this page does not explain how to add multiple price sets to the Contribution page. Is there any place in the documents that explains how to do this? All I found refer to the page above.

If there is no documentation, maybe anyone had experience with multiple price sets and could guide me? Thanks in advance!

As for the programming, not sure why Stoob assumes we don't have programmers - we do, but exactly because the software documentation claims to be able to support this scenario, I was hoping we wouldn't  have to rewrite everything...
