CiviCRM keeps crashing mySQL
June 17, 2013, 01:14:33 pm
After rebooting our server and using CiviCRM for a few minutes it crashes the server and I keep getting a database connection error.  This is not the case when rebooting the server and only using Joomla.  Tested for several days now.  It crashes even faster when using the CiviCRM contribution section or form.   In the browser it says:  Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL  and in the apache error log it logs the following error:
[Mon Jun 17 19:52:41 2013] [error] [client 84.192.193.193] PHP Fatal error:  Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 194444 bytes) in /var/www/htdocs/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Error.php on line 473, referer: thedomain/es/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contribute/transact&Itemid=106&_qf_Confirm_display=true&qfKey=c9ed8afafda2131efb047a8428bd9fe6_4854

Please help.

More information would help folks who try to assist.  Does it crash when you perform a certain action?  What's the hosting environment?  Has this happened since you installed CiviCRM, or did it just start?  Did anything in the environment change - new server, new Civi version, etc.?  Also, it looks like you're running out of RAM.  It seems you're allocating 128MB per process, which should be fine - but what happens if you allocate more RAM to a process?  Maybe 192MB?

It is a new install.  It is hosted with Amazon EC2 on Ubuntu (64 bit).  It mostly happens when submitting a contribution in the frontend of joomla.  Although it happens also when accessing the contribution section in the admin backend.  I am going to allocate more memory and test it.

Increasing the memory does not solve the issue.
