How to Move an Installation
June 19, 2013, 04:22:36 pm
I have a CiviCRM install 4.3.4 installed on a site in Joomla 1.5.26.

I need to take just the CiviCRM database and install it on a fresh Joomla 2.5.11 site.  CiviCRM is NOT currently installed on that site.

Can anyone give me pointers?  Will the following steps work?

1. Export (phpMyAdmin) all of the civicrm_* tables using the SQL and data from the J!1.5 site
2. Import the SQL file (phpMyAdmin) to the new J!2.5 site.
3. option 1:  Install CiviCRM
3. option 2:  Install CiviCRM as an upgrade

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thank You.

Have you seen our wiki page on this:

?

I would first install CiviCRM on the new site, and then replace all of the civicrm_ tables with those from the old site. But read that wiki page, it has a lot of information.
