Calculated membership end date wrong?
July 01, 2013, 01:34:50 am
Hi all,

I've noticed this issue since a few upgrades ago.

When I add a new membership, set the start date, and then leave the end date blank.

The calculated date is always the membership period plus 1 extra month. Could this be caused by the calculation taking into account the grace period? This previously was working correctly, but I can't remember the version.

hi

maybe tell us more about the membership type you have set up - is it 1 year, or 12 months,
is it fixed or rolling?
if rolling do you have a fixed roll over date?

there were changes made so people would get 12+ months on a 12 month so that they could sign up on eg day 14 of the month and get the 16 days + 12 months

not sure if that sounds like it is related but ...

Hello, thanks for the reply.

We have fixed membership types for 6 months and 12 months. We just need the membership to be aligned to a normal calendar year. Is this the right setup?

Memberships as follows:
12 months - January to December
6 months - January to June, and July to December

They pay the same amount regardless of when they join.

sounds like you are hitting the problem i described before

and yet you have not set a rollover date on the membership type

if you change your 12 months to 1 year you might avoid the problem for that one

am surprised it is affecting you though

can you set up on demo to confirm it is hitting there - if so i suspect you need to open a bug - ideally linking to the original jira ticket if i could only find it - maybe search rollover month membership

Well, this has been working fine until perhaps two or three releases ago. Something's changed since then.

At the moment, I've been setting the end date manually as a temporary workaround.

pretty sure this is the jira ticket
http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-10585

not sure if that helps with you working out whether you probs kicked in when you upgraded to 4.3 series - but if it did then you may need to add comments to that ticket

but i think that would be best done after you replicate on demo ;-)

Thanks, will try and replicate it in the demo once I get a chance.
