Problems uploading PDF file in Event
July 01, 2013, 01:54:49 pm
When I attempt create a NEW event, I use the editor in the Complete Description section  to upload an image.  I am having an issue uploading a PDF file.  I click on Image button,  click on Upload Tab (to upload the pdf from my computer).  When I click-on Send to Server, I get an "Unknown image format/encoding"   I have been successful in uploading Jpg, PNG and other image files with no problems.

I have also tried clicking on Browse Server from the Image Info tab.  The KCFinder/Image browser comes up.  I tried clicking Upload and selecting the PDF file from my computer.  When it tries to upload it fail with this example error  "Referral 2013-14.pdf: Unknown image format/encoding."

I recently upgrade the CiviCRM from 4.3.3 to 4.3.4.  We are beginning to use the Event modular to place event information onto our website.

Can anyone assist me where to start.  I looked into the /civicrm/packages/kcfinder director and view several of the PHP files there.  But I am not sure what to edit if I need to ADD the pdf file extension to the list.

Thanks in advance!!
Thanks!

Here is what we do.

1. Upload the pdf to the media library in WordPress
2. Once uploaded it should provide you with a link to file. Copy that URL.
3. Then in the event description you can create a link to the file location using the file URL.

A couple extra steps but it should work fine.

Thanks.  That will work for the time being.  But would certainly like to keep the information on one screen rather than having the use leaving the event page to view the PDF then go back to the event if they wish to register.  Some older folks get discourage by that.  However, your method proves to be a temporary fix.

There is or has to be something in the coding which need modifying to upload doc, or pdf.    For now, I am simply converting PDF to Image (PNG) an uploading it.  Mostly these PDF are nothing more than a Flyer.
Thanks!
