Question about access to specific groups
July 02, 2013, 03:20:19 am
Hi,
I have one hundred of groups, and only two groups need specials ACL to view it, after reading the Docs for ACL , I cannot find a way to give this rights only to a group without touch the others (ex: if i give all rights to edits to managers is not possible to exclude a particular group).

any help are welcome

Thx in advance
Fil

Hi - don't quite understand your question.

If you have Groups A - M

Do you want some people to only have access to the contacts in eg Groups B and C

If so, that is how an ACL group should be able to work

Sorry for my bad english :-(

The problem is i have normal user have access to group A to X  but not to Y and Z , and manager have access to all groups

The only way i have found is make a acl to groups A to X ( i have 80 grouos) . I have make a master group with A to X group inside but the ACL is not propagated to subgroups :-(

My question is :
It's possible to give users access to group A to X without make ACL for each groups ??

Thx in advance

Not using out-of-the-box ACLs afaik

So you are saying a normal user has access to CiviCRM and should be able to see all the contacts who are in Groups A - X but not those in Y and Z?

I can't guess how people are getting in to your 80 groups. If you had a Smart Group QQ made of the all people in Groups A-X you might get things working as you want ie normal Users get provided ACL access to the contacts in QQ.

BUt a Smart Group built off that many other groups might slow your system down lots.

A Custom ACL hook might be your option. I can't explain it but if you search for those terms you might get some hints
