Contribution Batch Processing
July 03, 2013, 11:30:17 pm
I'm seeing some anomalies with contribution batch processing. Donations are controlled and entered in a batch to match each periods banking. About 80% of the time everything works fine. I use Crystal Reports to produce a record of transactions based upon the batch number. Before saving and processing a batch, I will fill out the deposit book. I ensure that the deposit book record and the batch records entry match. I them process the batch and run my Crystal report. As I say, 80% of the time this report matches the banking.

However, sometimes, some entries get lost. I have no explanation. I simply go into the persons record, add the missing transaction, edit the civicrm_entity_batch table, add the missing record to link it up to the batch and run my report again, and everything is fine.

Today, I had another issue. An open batch with 4 records in it, while it still existed, was empty. The records were re-entered and saved (not closed) and you can go into the batch and the records are still there. What occurred was another two batches have been added, entered and closed in the mean time.

There seems to be no logical or operational reason for the issues. I'm suggesting some corruption in either code or memory due to bad coding.

What can I do to start logging and tracking errors that might be reported? I'm familiar with CiviCrm as a user, but know computer systems well. So some basic help around CiviCRM on Drupal 7 would really help me to get to the right place.

Also, since 4.3.3 and the change in the database, the Search|Find Contributions|Batch Name, no longer works for any batch created after this version. Quite unhelpful.
Any help would be appreciated.
