Smart group based on radio button?

I have a custom field called 'Open case' that's attached to individual contacts. It's a radio button , with 3 possible values of 1, 2 and 3.  I'd like to make a smart group based on all contacts whose 'Open case' values are either 1 or 2.  Since I can select only one of these values in advanced search, making a smart group based on more than one value looks to be impossible.  Is there some way, some devious way, around this? I guess this problem would still exist if I changed this to a selection box?

Hi Andy,

You can use the Search Builder for this.  Let me know if you need more detailed instructions, but the documentation is pretty good.  It's easier if you're using Civi 4.3 - Search Builder is much easier to use in 4.3!

Of course!  After I posted this, the Search Builder popped into my brain.  Think before you post....  Many thanks, I built the Smart Group just fine.  It's a great tool.
