Use participant data as token
July 15, 2013, 05:29:42 am
Hi,

A customer did a mailing and wanted to include a custom field for participant. He looked at the help tooltip and it says to do {contact.custom_xy}. He tried and this didn't work.

I explained that it's because it's not a contact's custom field, but one for a participant. We are looking for {participant.custom_xy}... and failed.

We tried from a participant search result, and we don't have a single participant related token. Is this a missing feature or me that missed something?

Hi,

I am looking to accomplish the same thing (participant custom token).  I tried with CiviCRM4.3 and had the same result.

I found this in the wiki http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Mail-merge+Tokens+for+Contact+Data but this is regarding 3.4 version. The current wiki page regarding token doesn't mention token for custom field anymore.

Did this feature been deprecated with the 4.0 upgrade?
Should we use hook now instead (see http://book.civicrm.org/developer/current/techniques/hooks/ ?
