Change contact on contribution record?
July 26, 2013, 07:27:44 am
Is it OK to change the contact_id (=contributor) on a contribution record?

I have found out that the API does allow, but is it a valid operation and does the API maintain database integrity?

I want to do this because I'm importing contribution records from a source where the contributor info is not always correct, so I want to import them as "pending", change the contact if necessary, and then save as "completed".

prior to 4.3 it's probably fine - but I'd ping joemurray on IRC to check if there are any implications from 4.3 on
