If I track links, URLs get re-written - help please!

Similar problem to others elsewhere on this board but I don't see a fix:

When I draft a mass mailing, and it contains hyperlinks, CiviMail appears to re-write the links and points to somewhere internal to my domain, not the the actual target. e.g. it turns links to http://socialliberal.net/ into http://members.socialliberal.net/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=5&qid=12 - which is an invalid.

Turning off "track links" fixes the issue in the sense that the links now work, but I'd like to track links! I know it's something to do with the either Resource URL settings or some such base setting, but unsure how to change which setting to what  :)

help much appreciated!

Hi,

It's normal that the url get rewritten, it's how we can track the clicks.

Is the problem that it gets rewritten to the wrong url? in that case, check the setting in your civicrm.settings.php and adjust the url inside to the right one.

If the issue is that your civicrm isn't accessible from outside, then there is nothing much you can do (at least without some custom dev), your visitors need to be able to visit the url to track the clicks in order to track the clicks.
